The Art Of Slow Living

I’ve always been anxious to explore the world but a huge part of my existence is in the art of slow living. I’m sure you’ve heard the saying a time or two; it’s a famous hashtag on Instagram but, to experience the authentic nature of it you must adopt the lifestyle in all of it’s glory!

If you’ve been following me for a while or know me personally then the words minimalism, decluttering and no tox is familiar to you. Essentially I’ve been a minimalist my entire life but never really adopted the title until I was deep into my cleaning business.

When you acquire less stuff you will actually get more of what you really want—more money, greater security, peace of mind, more time, more energy, and deeper relationships –Peter Walsh

As a former house cleaner in a greenwashed industry, I started doing research in 2017 on how to clean chemical free. That’s when I fully developed a passion for the lifestyle I live today. I found out that every single product on the market has some kind of chemical in it, and there was no way that I would successfully be able to run my small business with the homemade products I created at home.

In 2020, I quit running the physical business and focused on educating women (especially moms) on how to clean with old fashioned products like baking soda, alcohol and soap. Today, I just make a simple concoction of alcohol + water + lemongrass to quickly clean our home.

The Uncluttered Project‘ was created to help us be more mindful, let go without feeling guilt and introduce a life that is filled with worthiness, happiness, security and wealth.

When my girls were little they suffered a great amount of aliments due to the cleaning products I was using. I believe there is a purpose for everything. And to be quite honest, I also believe the chemicals made me crazy at times. I suffered migraines 22 days out of the month for nearly 25 years. Today, I’m so proud that I did all the research because I barely get them anymore #ditchthetox

The Secret Is Hiding Behind All That Clutter

When I introduce the word minimalism to my readers I feel like some people think it’s a bad word. It’s quite the opposite. Allow me to break it down for you:

  • Minimalism is not boring
  • It is not losing the things you love, it’s actually truly gaining them
  • It’s a lifestyle, nothing more…nothing less
  • Cleaning is easier and quicker
  • Your space is cozy, not spotless or perfect, there is no perfection here
  • When the space is free from clutter the energy can flow smoother
  • You’re able to think more clearly leading to creativity, productivity, experiences you’ve been longing to explore
  • There’s really not a whole lot of laundry to do
  • Your life is more meaningful, more fruitful
  • You sleep better
  • You bring more wealth into the home
  • The discovery of self love, self care, healing, letting go and worthiness erupts. And it’s not just letting go of physical things, it’s emotional too

Introducing The Minimalist Lifestyle

Each new day do something small to get you into the habit of becoming more minimal. This doesn’t mean go into the closet and start throwing everything away. In fact, I don’t want you to do that. I want you to get rid of something that perhaps you couldn’t care less about and that’s it.

  • When you begin your journey it helps to take things slowly to avoid any negative energy or overwhelm
  • Think about all the good things your new space will bring into your life
  • Imagine what you want your space to look like before taking any action
  • Now think about how it’s going to feel when your space gets the exact way you want it
  • Avoid thinking of any task as cleaning because we all know that that’s not a nice word. Instead think of it as living. This is my lifestyle, this is my home, this is my space
